![]() ![]() A very cool feature is the bookmarks, which work just like those in web browsers. You can also use it on any computer in portable version. What I like about XYplorer file manager is that it has portable version so it doesn't require any installation. Compared to them, XYplorer seems to be a hybrid of these two programs, which affects its functionality and user friendliness. Previously I tried using Total commander. Thanks you XYplorer for supporting us! Thanks jasonX for coming back and finding XYplorer! I am glad that I visited GFYI again and to see that XYplorer is up for grabs! This is one piece of software app I need! And the development is active that it constantly improves. XYplorer gives you more functionality and easiness you need. I like using the free version but if I get the chance to win the Pro-version (with the lifetime upgrades) that is a "Merry XMAS" to me indeed. I'd like to win a Pro-lifetime license so I can make it portable and use it at the office. The "ghost filter" is also a good because you can hide items you do not want others to see (if you make it the default file manager). In XYplorer it's a bit different but once you get the hang of it I like it! Looking at the "compare editions" you can customize keyboard shortcuts and toolbar buttons, the folder "view-contents" is a nice touch because you can see the contents without having to click it. Also the look is not pleasing to the eye. I use it in tandem with Windows Explorer but sometimes it's a drag and seems to eats up ram or something especially when you open a lot of folders with Windows explorer while using Q-Dir. I am a user of Q-Dir (Portable) for about a year now because when I work I open a lot of folders that make the tray full always. "What feature/s of XYplorer Pro do you like best as compared to your existing file manager application (state your app) and why do you want to win a lifetime license of XYplorer Pro?” The items to be hidden are identified by wildcard patterns matching their name. The Ghost Filter lets the user do a globally hide particular files and folders from Tree and List (all tabs, both panes). Parallel processing can be quite inefficient and may put unnecessary stress on your hard disks because of excessive head movements. Without queueing background file operations are processed in parallel. if the user initiates a job, say a Copy operation, while another one is still in progress, the new one will be delayed until the other one is finished. With queueing enabled successive operations are lined up in sequence and completed one after the other. Or he (the user)can perform a non-sequential undo, which means that he can undo any particular action from his action history without undoing the actions that came after.īackground file operations can optionally be processed sequentially (in a queue), which is often far more efficient than processing them in parallel. ![]() Optionally the user can perform a cumulative undo, which means that he can undo a whole bunch of actions with a single click. Even on the next morning after having closed and restarted XYplorer. With Undo, just one click will bring everything back to normal. The user might not even know which folder it was. The typical use for Undo is when you drag-moved some items into the wrong folder, maybe by a slip of the finger, the famous accidental drop. They are even remembered between sessions so the user can fix today what was broke yesterday. Up to 100 user actions are logged and can be undone at any point. XYplorer gives the user multi-level undo/redo for file operations Move, Copy, Rename, Delete, and New. Instead it uses a set of small files located in the application data folder. Unlike the typical Windows application, XYplorer does not use the registry to store its settings. Thus, XYplorer can be stored on a removable storage device (such as a CD-ROM, a USB flash drive, a flash card, etc.) enabling it to be used on multiple computers without requiring any sort of registration or affecting the host system in any way. The user just needs to simply copy it to any desired folder and run it from there. XYplorer does not require any formal installation onto a computer. It doesn’t require any installation, stores all configuration data in the application data folder, and running it doesn’t change your system or registry.
